Wines Red Barbera d'Asti
Barbera is a very pleasant wine, with an intense color, clear aromas of red fruit, flowers and just a little bit of spices to make it intriguing. It has strong tannins, never too aggressive, a slender but nervous body and incredible acidity, so much so that it is considered one of the most acidic varieties, despite growing in relatively warm areas.
In Italy the historical areas of Barbera (Vitis vinifera montisferratentis) are Monferrato, where Barbera was born; the province of Asti with the related DOCG Barbera d’Asti and finally in the Langhe we have the DOC Barbera d’Alba.
In Asti the Barbera is powerful and round, mineral, with a complex structure and a particularly seductive bouquet: the Barbera from Agliano are very elegant, while in Nizza and Costigliole d'Asti there is a more impressive Barbera, barricaded and very spicy with an explosive fruit.
