Toscana SELECTION.01 Wine Selection

This selection of Italian wines represents some of Tuscany’s most prestigious and renowned labels, often referred to as “Supertuscans” due to their exceptional quality and innovative approach to winemaking.

• Castellare di Castellina - Poggio ai Merli 2019: A pure Merlot, Poggio ai Merli is known for its depth and complexity. The 2019 displays rich notes of ripe black fruit, such as plums and blueberries, enhanced by tones of chocolate and sweet spice. The structure is robust, with soft tannins and impressive length on the finish.

• Barone Ricasoli - Casalferro 2018: Casalferro is another example of a pure Merlot that shows the varietal’s ability to express itself beautifully in the Tuscan terroir. The 2018 displays an excellent balance of ripe fruit, smooth tannins and a subtle oak vein that adds complexity without overpowering the fruit.

• Masseto - Masseto 2021: One of Italy's most celebrated and sought-after wines, Masseto is a world-renowned Merlot. Although the 2021 is a young vintage, it already promises to show an intense concentration of dark fruit, earthiness and minerality, with a powerful tannic structure that guarantees decades of evolution.

• Petrolo - Galatrona 2018: Galatrona is purely Merlot and often compared to the best Bordeaux Merlots. The 2018 is expressive and characterized by aromas of black cherry, tobacco and vanilla, with a richness on the palate that remains elegant and persistently aromatic on the finish.

• Rocca di Frassinello - Baffonero 2015: Baffonero is another superb Tuscan Merlot, demonstrating the excellence that can be achieved in this region. The 2015 is particularly rich and ripe, with a dense black fruit profile, chocolate and a complex spicy note from the barrique aging.

• Tua Rita - Redigaffi 2018: Redigaffi is one of Tua Rita's flagship wines and one of the first Italian Merlots to earn international recognition. The 2018 vintage displays an intensity of fruit, notes of coffee, chocolate and a velvety tannic texture that makes it incredibly satisfying now but with great aging potential.

Each of these wines represents the pinnacle of Tuscan winemaking and their ability to express international varieties with a distinctly Italian character is admirable. They are excellent for special occasions or as part of a sophisticated wine collection.
