White wines Ca' Marcanda Gaja
Ca ’Marcanda, winery of the Gaja family, is located in Castagneto Carducci in the upper Tuscan Maremma, one of the most dynamic Italian wine areas.
The name "Ca 'Marcanda" derives from a Piedmontese dialectal expression that refers to the long negotiations conducted by Angelo Gaja to convince the previous owners to sell the company, previously destined to olive grove, orchard, cattle breeding and to a small extent to vineyard.
The property is characterized by two distinct types of land: brown lands, with a prevalence of sand and clay, and pale earth, with prevalence of silt and clay, rich in limestone and skeleton. The hot summer days, refreshed by the sea breeze, and the warm nights, create an ideal climate for Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Sangiovese.
As in the native Piedmont, Angelo Gaja's goal is to produce wines that reflect the distinctive and unique qualities of the territory.
