How did the 2020 harvest go in the Langhe?

How did the 2020 harvest go in the Langhe?
27 November 2020

We asked the historic cellar in Alba PIO CESARE where, since 1881, five generations of the family have followed one another over time to ensure the continuity of the quality and style of the wines of the Barolo and Barbaresco areas.

The 2020 harvest was qualitatively excellent, a perfect combination of quality and quantity.

After a series of very hot and dry vintages, starting from 2018 we have witnessed a succession of particularly traditional vintages with a climate that is not too hot and an excellent availability of water which in 2020 was guaranteed by spring rains and isolated thunderstorms that allowed the grapes of the Langhe to grow without any water stress.

The vines have proved, in such a difficult and complex year, ideal examples of the resilience and surprising strength of Mother Nature, so hard with
men but so kind to plants that he taught us to be patient and to wait for the right time to harvest.
